Sam is EVP and Executive Creative Director at EnergyBBDO, a Chicago-based advertising agency and a unit of BBDO Worldwide - it's the most awarded agency network in the world for effectiveness and creativity.
Before working at EnergyBBDO, Sam had created award-winning campaigns for PlayStation, Target, VW, and Pop Secret as SVP/Creative Director at Deutsch LA. He lead both the creation and production of cross-platform ideas, managing integrated creative teams and digital development war rooms. He also headed up the winning new business pitch for Nintendo. In addition to his work at EnergyBBDO, Sam teaches at Art Center College of Design, and mixes his passion for creativity and technology as the Team Leader for the Brainwriter project at Not Impossible Labs.
The Berlin School of Creative Leadership represents an important step in Sam's career. Sam says that he wants to have a hand in shaping the future of advertising and believes that "the program will expose me to a variety of smart and talented professionals who are accomplished in their respective fields––who all have unique and valuable approaches to the ways they work in the world. This exposure, combined with lessons in business leadership, will offer me the ability to grow in ways I cannot inside an agency."
Before joining Deutsch LA, Sam was a Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather, where he led the birth, creation, and deployment of creative ideas across all media, as well as managed digital strategists, social media specialists, and technologists all as creatives. Prior to that, he worked at Saatchi & Saatchi on Toyota, conceptualized guerrilla campaigns for the entertainment industry, edited film trailers in Hollywood, and started his own agency in college. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science, Neurobiology at Occidental College.
