Marisa currently owns and runs Black Africa Group, which is her brand consultancy and primary business with operations in South Africa, Mauritius, Kenya and Uganda. This comprises several group agencies, including an offshore management company, brand agency, digital agency, a product development company specializing in new body products and an SMME enterprise development support company, as well as two new businesses to be launched in 2015.
“My current focus is on new brand development by observing market gaps and opportunities and creating start-up companies that provide new human-era solutions. My ambition is two-part - to bring creative thinking to the boardroom and to ignite small businesses.”
Prior to founding Black Africa Group, Marisa was a Director at Interbrand South Africa following the entity’s merger with her former agency BLACK. Brand Strategy and Design.
Marisa obtained a BA Honours in Design from the Design Centre South Africa, accredited by the Nottingham Trent University in the UK and went on to complete a Diploma in Strategic Brand Management from Vega South Africa.
She worked as a Graphic Designer for Chillibush Advertising and Design, and as a freelance before joining Salamander Communication in 2004 as a Creative Director. In 2005, Marisa created BLACK. Brand strategy and design.
