
Position: Director, School of Management and Innovation Steinbeis University Berlin
Short vita: Carsten Rasner is Director of the School of Management and Innovation (SMI) at Steinbeis University Berlin (SHB). The SMI functions as an independent institute within the university and acts autonomously and independently as an "enterprise within the enterprise". The SMI oversees the Steinbeis Media Management Transfer Institute, which Rasner established in 1999, The Institute for Finance and Business Administration, and The Berlin School of Creative Leadership. The Berlin School of Creative Leadership was established in 2004 as a joint co-operation between the SMI and the Art Directors Club, Germany (ADC). Currently nearly 300 students are enrolled in master and bachelor programs offered by the SMI.
Rasner began his career in executive education and training at IBM where he was Marketing Manager for Training and Consulting Teams. While at IBM Rasner was involved with research addressing "Market Focused Management" and "Enterprise Organization". From 1994-1998 Rasner advised and coached high-tech and media companies on behalf of Steinbeis University. Rasner's focus was on strategy, organization and marketing. Since 1999 Rasner has been the director of the Institute for Business Administration in Media Management at the SMI, which ranks among the top institutes for executive education for senior media professionals in Germany. Through his work at the SMI Rasner works closely together with respected national and international universities and has published numerous articles on strategy, organization and marketing. Rasner completed his studies in marketing and management in Stuttgart.
