Position: Director, Schauspielhaus Frankfurt
Short vita: Born 1954 in Vienna, Elisabeth Schweeger studied Comparative Literature, Classics, German and Philosophy in Vienna, Innsbruck and at the Sorbonne, Paris, where she earned her PhD in Philosophy in 1979.
After completing her studies she held positions at the University of Applied Arts and The Academy of Performing Arts in Vienna, where she was the Exhibit Director from 1985-1992.
Since 1993, Schweeger has been the Artistic Director at Marstall, Munich, and since 1999 she has been the Literary Director at the Bavarian State Theater.
Schweeger has been the lead curator for major public exhibits and events for various prominent institutions including Ars Electronica, documenta, O.K. Linz, and the Museum Quarter Vienna. Schweeger was the Austrian Pavilion Commissioner for the 49th Biennale in Venice.
As of September 2001 Schweeger has been the Director of the Frankfurt Schauspielhaus.
