Short vita: Prof. Dr. Klaus Schönbach was appointed Director of the Institute for Communication at the University of Amsterdam in 2001 after having served as Chair for Communication Theory since 1998.
Prior to becoming Chair for Communication Theory Schönbach was professor of Communication at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Research at the Academy for Music and Theater in Hanover, Germany.
Between 1983-1985 Schönbach taught at the Institute for Communication at the University of Munich, and between 1977-1978 he served on the Academic Advisory Board at the Institute for Journalism at the University of Münster.
Schönbach completed his PhD in Journalism and Physiology at University of Mainz in 1975.
