Marcio Moreira is one of the world’s most respected and honored global marketing and creative executives. His storied career at McCann Erickson Worldwide and later at the parent company, McCann Worldgroup, has included top ranked posts as a Worldwide Chief Creative Officer, Asia Pacific Regional Director, and Chief Talent Officer.
Biography
Over the years, he has led cross-border creative development on such global accounts as Coca-Cola, UPS, Nestlé, Goodyear, General Motors, Unilever, MasterCard and Interbrew, and has won hundreds of awards, including Cannes Lions, New York Festival, Clio, Mobius and Andy awards. For four years in the mid 1990s, in addition to his creative role, he was Regional Director of McCann Asia-Pacific, the largest western-based ad agency system in the region.
In his most recent post, as Vice Chairman, Chief Talent Officer of McCann Worldgroup, Marcio’s responsibilities encompassed global human resources, including recruitment, deployment and compensation; oversight of selected global accounts and of McCann’s worldwide training and development programs.
Marcio’s remarkable career began as a Projectionist in McCann Brazil, which led quickly to Writer/Producer posts in London, Lisbon, Copenhagen and Frankfurt; being named Creative Director for all of Latin America; moving to NYC to head the cutting edge InterNational Team, then the agency's multicultural creative task-force. With the exception of a valuable stint in the entertainment business, serving as Worldwide Marketing Coordinator for Columbia Pictures, then a Coca-Cola subsidiary, his entire career has been with McCann.
A wonderful raconteur, and an intensely knowledgeable internationalist, Marcio is the recipient of scores of honors. Among his favorites are Brazil's Advertising Professional of the Year (1988), of the Decade (1990) and of the Century (2003). He has served as a judge for every major creative festival and as Chairman of the Cannes Festival.
Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French, he has authored two books (in Portuguese); one a collection of poetry, the other a series of short stories. He co-authored the Brazilian edition of Richard Edler’s book on Leadership, “If Only I Knew”. He is a recorded lyricist, having collaborated with top-notch jazz and bossa-nova composers such as Sadao Watanabe (Japan) and Cesar Camargo Mariano (Brazil).
Marcio became an American citizen in 1990.
