Biography

Before joining Fireworks advertising Ltd., Alvas was Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi in Kenya. Preceding this, Alvas was a Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather Kenya. Prior to this he worked at TBWA, DDB-CCL, McCann-Erickson and MCL Saatchi & Saatchi in Nairobi, Kenya. Alvas Onguru was nominated as one of only 26 DDB Creative Directors around the world to attend DDB University's first ever Creative Director's seminar, 'How Great Creative People Become Great Creative Director's' in Chicago. In 1998 Onguru won 3 Golds at the Kenya Advertising awards for Best Copywriter, Best Print Advertisement and for Advert, Household and Durable Products category. In 2001 he won 4 awards at the Kenya Advertising Awards, Gold for Best Use of Music, Silver for Best TV commercial, Public Service and Charities, Bronze for Best TV campaign and for Best Print advertisement in the Transport and Automotive category. Onguru has a BS Degree in education, English and Literature from the Moi Universitiy in Eldoret, Kenya and a Diploma in Marketing from the Marketing Society of Kenya. Onguru was born in Kendu Bay, Kenya and lives and works now in Nairobi, Kenya.
