About the Lecture & Speaker

Jeff Jarvis, author of the influential new media book “What Would Google Do?”, will be speaking about new and better ways to gather, share, and verify news and the radically different and improved relationship between journalists and the public they serve. During his lecture Jeff will discuss product versus process journalism and the shift he argues is necessary from a longstanding myth of perfection and mistake-free news to a "beta culture" in which news and public information are acknowledged to be imperfect, incomplete and ultimately best shaped through collaboration.

Jeff blogs about media and news at Buzzmachine.com and is an associate professor and director of the Interactive Journalism Program at the City University of New York’s new Graduate School of Journalism. He is consulting editor and a partner at Daylife, a news startup and writes a new media column for The Guardian and is host of its Media Talk USA podcast. Jeff consults and has spoken for a number of media companies – including The Guardian, News Corp., USA Today, VH1, Sky.com, The New York Times, Burda, Advance Publications, Hearst–and major brands–including GM, Nike, Avaya, Chrysler, Estée Lauder, Starcom, and Edelman. Jeff is a member of the Berlin School Board of Governors and will be teaching during the January EMBA US module.
