About the lecture
With more than 100,00 employees in 63 countries, Germany-based Bertelsmann AG is the world's most international media company. It runs a conglomerate of media entities, such as Europe's biggest broadcaster, the RTL group, and Random House, the world's largest publishing company.
For international media companies, managing change, complexity and cultural diversity has always been a major task - one that is further accelerated by the impact of digitalization. While digitization offers numerous new opportunities for media companies, users and societies alike, different businesses - television, books, magazines, services - warrant different approaches and strategies. In a decentralized company, a strong corporate culture and a unique corporate brand are strong tools for strengthening performance by fostering employee identification. At Bertelsmann, the combination of creative space and entrepreneurial freedom plays a major role in taking advantage of emerging opportunities.
