Applied Controlling
Understanding the importance and mechanics of integrated profit and financial oversight and reporting is necessary for organizations to achieve specific goals more predictably and with reducedvariation. Building on the lessons of the introductory Accounting course, participants will learn how financial resources are directed, monitored, measured and reported. Topics covered in the
course include the budgeting process and planning cycle; integrated profit and budget reporting; income statement; cash flow statement; and budgeted balance sheet.
Corporate Governance
Strong leaders are at the center of relationships with employees, suppliers, customers and the community at large. Therefore, it is essential for leaders to understand and respect these complex relationships and the processes, customs, laws and institutions which deeply affect the way in which a corporation is directed, administered and controlled. This course takes a close look at leading models of governance in today's business world.
Decision Making & Change Management
Recognizing and managing change decisively and systematically is crucial to effective leadership in organizations. This course begins by examining the decision-making process itself and how it can be adapted to particular situations and people. It then turns to establishing a diagnosis of the change process in organizations and a change project can be effectively designed, led and managed.
Ethics
Effective leaders increasingly recognize the importance of considering the broader consequences of their decisions. This course examines proven critical thinking skills for identifying and analyzing competing ethical concerns in the decision-making process. Through case discussions and exercises, the course also emphasizes the interdependence of markets, ethics, and law in particular industries, the wider market and throughout society.
Finance
Effective leaders must understand how corporations make investment and financing decisions to create value for shareholders and other stakeholders. This course introduces the major principles, tools and techniques of finance from the perspective of the department or organizational management. Topics include the formulation of financial objectives and policies, financial analysis, forecasting and planning; capital budgeting and NPV analysis; external and internal financing; and international finance.
Integrated Marketing
This course provides an overview of marketing, as an essential function of successful business organizations, for leaders in the creative industries. Topics include consumer decision-making; market research, segmentation and determining customer economic value; effective new product development; anticipating customer needs and preferences; and effective relationship management. Special attention is given to integrated communications processes and marketing strategies in today's dynamic media environment.
Leaders on Stage: Presentations
Uninspiring presentations can ruin months of hard work and cause companies to lose companies to lose business. The course provides participants with the tools and techniques to improve their presentation skills using an innovative 'storyboard' approach. The course focuses on: Extracting Messages (learning the iceberg concept of extracting the essential from details and adding value to raw details), Structuring Messages (learning to group ideas into hierarchies so that presentations do not end up as a discussion of bullet points), and Visualising Messages (learning to prepare a presentation by setting up a storyboard).
