Jean-Philip Deschamps is Professor at IMD Lausanne, Switzerland.

 

Biography

Prior to joining IMD in November 1996, he was based in Brussels as a Corporate Vice-President with Arthur D. Little, and Chairman of the firm's Technology and Innovation Management practice, which he created in 1981. Before that, he was Arthur D. Little's first European practice leader for strategy and organisation. He has thirty years of international management consulting experience throughout Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle-East. He started his career as a Commercial Attaché in the New York City office of the French Embassy in the United States.

He graduated from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Paris and received his MBA from INSEAD and from the Harvard Business School.

He has lectured in several business schools throughout Europe and is a frequent speaker at Management Center Europe. He has been invited twice as a speaker to the World Economic Forum in Davos.

He has written numerous articles on product strategy, product creation, innovation management and the Marketing/R&D interface, and is the co-author of a book: Product Juggernauts -- How Companies Mobilize to generate a Stream of Market Winners (Harvard Business School Press, 1995) which has been translated in several languages and features on the list of Harvard Business School best-selling teaching materials.

He focuses his research, teaching and consulting activities on product-based competition, with a particular interest in product creation and the management of innovation as a seamless cross-functional process.
