Course: Business Strategy
Instructor: Paul Verdin
The objective of the course is to cover some of the key concepts of basic strategic analysis and apply them to your own business situation, including a simple and structured strategy workshop. Course Description: Students will learn the basics of strategy development 'in 3 steps': (i) from industry analysis to (ii) competitive advantage and customer value to (iii) strategic assets and competences. A workshop will introduce you to Creative Strategy in Four Stages that demonstrate how companies create and capture value. Through case studies looking at companies that have failed and succeeded, students will learn how to apply the strategy analysis to specifc business situations and come up with their own solution of what next steps the company should take. The information learned in this course will be immediately applicable to the group presentations that are assigned at the beginning of the module. A major component of the class is group work and analysis so the students have ample an opportunity to learn from each other when it comes to solving complex business situations.
Creatives will leave the course with a better understanding of what phase of development and growth their own company is in as well as conclude what steps those companies can take to succeed and continue to create value for customers. Through an assignment that is to be completed in between modules, participants will be able to apply the techniques from the class to their own company and be able to use the tools in a practical setting.
There are various instructors used for each course; the ones named here may not be the same professors assigned to every start module.
